After all, nine times out of ten, the protagonist goes from zero to hero within a single episode and has a harem by the season finale. So we’re looking into the power scale to see which Isekai MCs are truly the most busted.
15. Lugh Tuatha Dé
Anime: The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat We’re going to kick things off with Lugh – the best assassin in the world. The reason he’s going to be at the bottom of the list is that his actual power in the new world isn’t that over the top. In fact, most of his presence in the show comes from the simple fact that he had a certain set of skills. Yes, there’s magic involved. But he doesn’t suddenly know how to summon demon lords or drop meteors onto enemy forces. All of that being said, he’s still quite the powerhouse. And you know it’s going to be quite the flex anime when the MC is calm, cool, and collected as Lugh.
14. Sora and Shiro
Anime: No Game, No Life Sora and Shiro fall under the same category as the previous pick. They don’t get any new powers (or any powers at all for that matter) but rather rely on their previous experience. That might not sound like a good example of an “OP MC” but look at it this way – these two literally battled a god and were then summoned to said god’s world. So straight off the bat, they’re competing with the most powerful being in that respective universe. And it only takes them a few months to get the title of king and queen. Not to mention that if the show ever got a second season – they’d probably end up becoming the most powerful rulers in the world. Overall, they might not seem overpowered on paper – but this is the equivalent of a Challenger player being thrown into Iron queue.
13. Sadao Maou
Anime: The Devil is a Part-Timer! Most of the time, anime has a person from the “real world” transported into a fantasy/RPG world. However, sometimes it’s the other way around. And I don’t think I have to explain that having otherworldly powers is pretty busted when facing regular people. Especially if you’re literally Satan. So, Sadao is leaps and bounds ahead of every other human in the real world. He can hypnotize them, destroy entire buildings, and make one hell of a burger. The only downside is that he can’t use his power freely. After all, there’s a limited amount of energy in the real world so Sadao has to be smart and manage his resources. Nevertheless, he’s a literal god, so he still fits the OP criteria.
12. Yousuke Shibazaki
Anime: Uncle from Another World Mister Ojisan on the other hand, has no such restrictions. He can use his powers as he pleases in the real world with no real consequences. Most of the time this means freezing unsuspecting waifus, flying around, or shape-shifting. But we’ve seen what he’s fully capable of from his many flashbacks to his previous life. We know that he can take out entire hordes of enemies with a single strike and commune with spirits in order to cast devastating magic. I doubt we’ll ever see his full power on display (especially in the human world) but I’m pretty sure he could take over the world if he really wanted to. Then again, his YouTube career is popping off, and clout is arguably more powerful than some random demon sword.
11. Seiya Ryuuguuin
Anime: Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious When even the title of the show flat-out states that the MC is overpowered – my job gets a lot easier. However, Seiya’s immense power doesn’t come from any particular ability. He doesn’t have a get-out-of-jail-free card or hax – but rather an immense grindset. The dude is fully prepared to grind his butt off until he outscales everything in his vicinity. And even when he’s clearly the most powerful dude around – he’ll show no mercy to his enemies. Mind you, not because he’s ruthless but rather out of pure precaution. And this mentality means that surprise attacks are virtually impossible against Seiya. Overall, the dude doesn’t ever enter a battle unless he’s certain that he can win. And even though he can basically win every fight regardless, he’ll always play it safe and stay on top.
10. Azusa
Anime: I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level It’s a well-known rule that the bigger the witch hat the more power you possess. And if the title somehow didn’t give it away already, Azusa has all the power. In fact, Azusa quickly reaches that point of power where she doesn’t really have to take anything seriously. She can have a leisurely conversation mid-battle and come out on top with no real issues. Literally the only way you can actually damage her is by making be productive in some way. That’s right, giant explosions aren’t nearly as effective as doing homework when facing Asuza. All of that being said, the show itself is rather silly – so Azusa doesn’t get to flex all that often and usually just punches people out cold.
9. Tanya Degurechaff
Anime: Saga of Tanya the Evil Tanya has quite the unique come-up story, as she gains all of her power just by pissing off God. That’s right, her main weapons are spite and atheism. And yet said God has made Tanya a force to be reckoned with. With more agility and firepower than literally anyone else around – Tanya becomes a terror on the battlefield. She can take out entire platoons by herself and is usually the sole reason major victories are lost. Not to mention that she also carries most of the brains in the show – using her experience from the previous world in order to outsmart everyone. Sure, she isn’t exactly destroying the entire planet. But you can definitely feel how far above everyone else she is. There’s a reason she’s considered a literal demon!
8. Rudeus Greyrat
Anime: Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation This show has one of my favorite approaches to an overpowered MC – it being that Rudeus simply took full advantage of his still-developing brain. By learning and practicing from the moment he was born, Rudeus became an S-class mage before even hitting puberty. Not only can he cast extremely complex spells but he can even do so without having to use incantations, which is a major advantage in combat. If that wasn’t enough, he also gets a Sharingan that lets him see into the future. This comes quite in handy considering Rudeus is also skilled with a sword. And as if he wasn’t overpowered enough, Rudeus also retained his scientific knowledge from his previous life – allowing him to make spells more devastating.
7. Diablo
Anime: How Not to Summon a Demon Lord The words Demon Lord are basically synonymous with overpowered. I don’t make the rules, that’s just the way things are. And Diablo definitely lives up to the name. In a world where the “most powerful” summon is level 30, being level 150 basically ensures that every conflict is over before it even begins. In fact, one of his most potent strategies in battle is to just allow the enemy to hit him with their most powerful ability. Not because he has some Full Counter ability but rather to crush their spirits. I don’t know about you, but that strategy would definitely crush my soul.
6. Maple
Anime: BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense. Straight off the bat, let’s just acknowledge the fact that Maple can’t really take damage. My girl funned points into her defensive stats like it was no one’s business and it surely paid off. However, she has more than just defense going for her. For one, she’s immensely lucky – to the point where legendary items just fall into her lap. Her new shield for example is not only impenetrable but can one-shot you with a simple bonk! Plus she attained actual magic! She can either paralyze or poison people in a large AoE and this alone usually one-shots her opponents. But the most busted thing about Maple is her scaling. You see, she can just go to sleep in the middle of a battlefield and wake up with boosted stats and two more levels to her name. And she can just eat a mob to gain its powers. So yeah – this tank has hands.
5. Kumoko
Anime: So I’m a Spider, So What? Just like Maple, Kumoko’s most powerful ability is her scaling status. Not only does she heal upon each level-up (which is quite often) but she can specialize her build extremely quickly. That’s how she manages to go from getting beat up by other spiders to slaying dragons in ten episodes! And the further along you go, the more busted her kit gets. For one, she has multiple minds working in tandem to both strategize and learn new spells at any given second. This has led to many clutch plays and tactics no one could’ve seen coming. And her magic repertoire just keeps growing. From simple venom blasts to teleportation and taboo magic, the sky is the limit for Kumoko.
4. Kazuto Kirigaya
Anime: Sword Art Online For years, Kirito has been the poster boy for OP MCs everywhere. And even though the newer seasons have balanced things out somewhat – the original series was just nuts. Kirito was so powerful that he could just stand while multiple dudes whaled on him and not take a single point of damage. In fact, even literally hacking the game wasn’t enough to take down the black swordsman! And you know you’re busted if the literal developer can’t seem to beat you. With absurd stats all around, the nakama power buff, and a heavy dose of plot armor – it’s safe to say that Kirito was the most powerful dude in his universe. However, even he wasn’t up to par with my top three.
3. Momonga
Anime: Overlord Facing Momonga is like going against a millionaire whale as a F2P player – you simply don’t stand a chance. The dude has an ability or spell for just about any situation. He can summon entire skeleton armies, teleport at will, control miniature black holes – and anything else you can think of. Not to mention that he can metagame the hell out of any fight. He has extensive knowledge of the power systems in play and can abuse them to his advantage. Be it by directly countering his enemy or using tactics that no one has ever heard of – it’s impossible to predict this guy. And considering how the following 100 most powerful characters in this show are also his underlings – you can see how easily he could take over the world if he truly wanted to.
2. Altair
Anime: Re: Creators Altair is another example of a character from a fantasy world being transported into the normie world. And let me tell you – you could easily make an argument for her being the most powerful character in all of anime. This is because her power is literally limitless. As an open source character, she gains any power that a person describes to her via social media. So, if someone jokingly says that “Altair can beat Goku” and then makes up a few reasons as to why – it’s officially canon. The only reason I didn’t put her in the number one spot is that her feats in the show haven’t been as insane as the following character.
1. Rimuru Tempest
Anime: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime If you’ve ever watched this show, you likely saw this one coming. Just like Kumoko, Rimuru basically has infinite scaling – being that they gain the power of whatever they consume. And let’s just say that they’ve consumed a literal dragon by episode two. Furthermore, just like Momonga, Rimuru is at the top of the food chain – with every other notably powerful character being either their underling or their ally. And just like Altair, Rimuru just has hax abilities. They can mix and match magic as they please and even mess with time and space (especially in the later stages of the manga). They can kill you with a simple glance, bring the dead back to life, and scale forever. Even though the anime has barely even scratched the surface of Rimuru’s limitless power, they’re already the most powerful isekai MC I’ve ever seen.
