But as men of culture, we have to remember that curvy is only one approach to the female form! So today we’re looking into some of the best and most beautiful flat (er, sporty) anime girls.
25. Nezuko Kamado
Anime: Demon Slayer If we’re talking about raw moe power, Nezuko is nearly unbeatable. When she’s in a fight she looks like a fierce demon, but in a good way. And when she’s in her base form you really just want to eat her right up. And don’t even get me started on that one scene where Nezuko shrunk and started running around the room while Zenitsu chased her around. I’ve been surviving this year simply by having that scene on loop in my head.
24. Yuzuru Nishimiya
Anime: A Silent Voice Both Shoko and Yuzuru are too pure for this world, but I guess since Yuzuru is more fitting for this list. So we’ll focus on her. Being that she’s a bit younger, she actually uses her appearance to her advantage and acts like a boy to scout out any bullies in disguise. But once she lets her guard down, she becomes just as moe as her sister. It’s also important to note how mature she is for her age. Honestly more often than not, she feels like the older sister in that relationship.
23. Himeko Inaba
Anime: Kokoro Connect Ah Himeko, the anime girl who blew thousands of prepubescent minds all over the world when she actually admitted to fapping. It was a landmark to be sure. And even though she kept fighting on for everyone else to be happy and get together, I think I speak for all of us when I say that she was ironically the biggest hit in the show. I don’t usually like the love triangle dynamic. But considering who was involved, I can totally get it.
22. Akatsuki
Anime: Log Horizon She’s a ninja and she’s named Akatsuki? There’s a Naruto joke in here somewhere. Akatsuki just had the perfect blend of badassery and cuteness, as she did her duties as both a spy and an assassin extremely well. But she also knew so little about flirting that it thawed my ice cold heart during the winter. She has a very lowkey tsundere vibe, and her special ability to deal +5 damage to all enemies talking about panties proved to be quite effective!
21. Kyouka Jirou
Anime: My Hero Academia Who doesn’t like some rock and roll in a waifu? Jirou became quite popular ever since she first graced the screen, but fell off after some time because she didn’t get much spotlight. And then anime God parted the skies and gifted us the school concert arc, and we were all reminded just how rockin’ Jirou is! Not only does she sing like an angel, but her genuine passion for music just makes you feel inspired. Time to download Fruity Loops, boys!
20. Hanako Honda
Anime: Asobi Asobase Hanako definitely isn’t for everyone, I can admit that much. Why? Because I’m pretty sure she’s actually insane. She is so over the top that she managed to burn down a restaurant just by spinning a pen. And her jealousy made her perform a full Salem witch trial over a misunderstanding. And yet I find her endearing in a way. Probably because she never fails to make me bust a gut laughing. I mean, she’s also extremely rich, if you’re into that sort of thing.
19. Shiro
Anime: No Game No Life Shiro falls under the same category as Nezuko in my heart, as she’s so adorable you just want to pet her head for the rest of your days. But she can also be terrifying. Only unlike Nezuko, you wouldn’t really fear Shiro’s fists, but rather her intelligence. I mean, she’s half of the duo that bested a literal god in chess. So god knows you are never winning another argument in your life.
18. Shalltear Bloodfallen
Anime: Overlord And we’re back to mortal danger. Although Shalltear looks like a fine little English lass that probably fancies some good old tea and crumpets, she’s actually a blood sucking vampire. And one of the most powerful creatures in the entire show. Even the spooky scary skeleton had to try his hardest to bring down this bite-sized Armageddon of a lady. It’s also important to note that her temper is not one of her strong sides, so tread carefully.
17. Beatrice
Anime: Re: Zero I’ll be honest: I initially didn’t care too much for Beatrice. She made me chuckle a few times, and her voice actress is doing god’s work, but she was largely overshadowed by Rem’s raw waifu power. However, after a certain arc(and you will know what arc I’m talking about if you’re all caught up), well it made her shoot up on my list. She suddenly had a more sensitive and fragile side to accompany her usual adorable bluntness, and that wombo-combo was too powerful for me alone to overcome.
16. Izumi Konata
Anime: Lucky☆Star What makes Izumi so great is that she’s quite literally one of us. She is a die-hard otaku who likes to spend her days either watching anime, reading manga, or playing MMORPGs, with her teacher no less. And unlike most flat-chested girls in anime, Izumi has the self-confidence of an idol star. Why? Well as I’ve said, she is an otaku, so it’s literally like she’s metagaming her own attractiveness because she knows men like me exist somewhere out there. She could have even foretold this very article, who knows?
15. Kaede Kayano
Anime: Assassination Classroom Kaede started out being this very bubbly girl who just could not get enough sugar into her system, and hated busty woman with the passion of an entire waifu subreddit. But then the show took a turn and we were reminded not to judge a book by its cover. However, that didn’t last long. And she quickly turned back to her bubbly self. It was a roller coaster, and even though the destination did not change, it definitely made you appreciate just how kind and worm Kaede truly is. Also, impeccable taste in men. Y’all out here drooling over a bad boy while Kaede set her scope on real husband material.
14. Shinomiya Kaguya
Anime: Kaguya-sama: Love is War If we’re talking about complete flatness, Kaguya is not quite there… however when compared to Chika she definitely seems close. Also, Kaguya has become iconic in the romcom genre, as the “rich person not knowing how emotions work” trope just never seems to grow old. Add in some adorable faces and the weirdest romantic competition I have seen in a long time, and you get an extremely memorable character!
13. Shinobu Oshino
Anime: Monogatari Series Time to step back into thousand-year-old lolly territory, boys! Although Shinobu is beyond busty when in her full form, throughout the show we get to see way more of her. Specifically once she became bite-sized, flat, and less terrifying. Don’t get me wrong: she still is scary. And her mere presence has caused too many catastrophes to count. But it is a lot harder to get mad at her when she looks at you with those puppy dog eyes! Plus, since this time her and Araragi aren’t just mindlessly massacring each other, we even get to see a bond form between the two. And it’s everything I hoped it would be.
12. Nana Hiiragi
Anime: Talentless Nana Although Nana is that one impostor that continuously gets away with self-reporting, and makes you feel like punching the screen, you can’t really hate her. I mean, at the very least you have to give her the GG because murdering a bunch of superpowered teens through pure intellect (and the occasional needle) is not simple task. And yet she manages to pull it off so effortlessly that even when she’s cornered, she still manages to get the W. Also, how is her hair so fluffy? And how was the feeling of fluffiness conveyed through an anime?
11. Tatsumaki
Anime: One Punch Man I’m not alone when I say that I would totally watch a spinoff centered around Tatsumaki. She’s that petite tsundere character that you just can’t get enough of, and she definitely has the power needed to carry the show. I mean, she literally dropped an asteroid once just because she thought it was fitting to defeat a dinosaur monster that way. And let’s not forget about her drinking episodes, which are equal part hilarious and terrifying, depending on who’s getting stabbed repeatedly.
10. Megumin
Anime: KonoSuba Megumin could probably punt a baby across a field full of landmines and I would still like her as a character. I can’t tell whether it’s because of her iconic and adorable troll faces, her goofiness and inability to comprehend that normal cats don’t spit fire, or maybe it’s just her pointy hat. Whatever might be the case, Megumin has made an explosion in my heart! And now I’m realizing that if you haven’t watched the show, that last statement either sounds weird or like a medical problem. Shucks.
9. Neferpitou
Anime: Hunter x Hunter (2011) I’m just begging for the furry comments with this one, now aren’t I? But I don’t care. Because when it comes to female antagonists, very few can stand in the ring with Neferpitou. Before we saw her destructive power and bloodlust, she just looked like the most adorable cat-girl ever. And if you don’t mind the occasional decapitated head rolling around, I guess you could still view her in that light. In fact, I support that outlook, as Neferpitou is objectively adorable.
8. Mine
Anime: Akame ga Kill! Anger issues and a sniper rifle don’t usually make for a good combination. But Mine makes it work somehow. Primarily because her weapon actually responds to the level of danger she’s in, so backing her up into a corner is actually a great death wish. Did I also mention that Mine is a tsundere? That’s right ladies and gentlemen: a bite-sized, battle hardened, sniper wielding, flat chested tsundere. How is that not an amazing sales pitch?
7. Azusa Nakano
Anime: K-On! Azusa is that one person in the group project that wants to start 2 weeks in advance and get maximum points straight off the bat. But when in Rome, chill out, since all the Romans are kind of in the middle of playing some games or taking a nap. So Azusa was converted into a more laid-back member of the band, only occasionally remembering her convictions going in. But don’t worry: when she gets all ambitious and starts yelling just give her some candy, maybe a head pat and she’s bound to go back into sleep mode. And it’s in sleep mode that she blesses us with untold levels of moe.
6. Binboda Momiji
Anime: Good Luck Girl Having a rival can be tough. Especially if they’re literally perfect in every way. I mean, you take one look at Sakura and you see plot, intelligence, money, charisma, status, everything. She’s so lucky that she sucks the luck out of everyone around her! And then there’s Binboda, the goddess of poverty. As you might imagine she isn’t quite loaded, financially or physically. And yet she comes off as way more likable. She’s down to earth and usually keeps a level head, except if people insist on comparing her rack to Sakura’s. But who wouldn’t get tired of that after some time?
5. Yuki Nagato
Anime: The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya If you like your daily dose of kuudere cuteness, Yuki is bound to be on your list. Being that her sole purpose is to collect data, she acts as an observer in the show, rarely if ever directly affecting the outcome of any situation. And you would think that would mean she’s boring, right? Surprisingly no. Her dead-pan commentary, as well as the occasional gag when everyone’s having fun and she’s just chilling with a straight face, both manage to stay fresh throughout the entire show!
4. Fuu Kasumi
Anime: Samurai Champloo Fuu is just the right amount of optimistic goofball that the show needed. Because let’s face it: Mugen and Jin would have made the show straight depressing without her. She’s constantly bouncing off the walls and gives the show a warm vibe. Now she isn’t quite fond of top plot heavy women, some might say because Mugen likes them and maybe Fuu got enticed by those sick dance moves… and is really easy to provoke. But even when she’s angry, it’s always in a very endearing manner. So I can’t really hold that against her.
3. Krul Tepes
Anime: Seraph of the End I know we already had a vampire loli on here, but I couldn’t help myself. Even though Krul doesn’t get a lot of screen time, and even though she absolutely should, we still get a pretty good grasp of her character. She’s terrifying. And may the lord be on your side if you ever try to test her. Even though she’s small, she has absolute control over everything and everyone. Hell, I was waiting for Mikaela to just call her mommy at some point. That sounded weird so we’re moving on…
2. Taiga Aisaka
Anime: Toradora! Even though a couple of years have passed since I watched this show, Taiga still remains my favourite tsundere character. Her backstory and character are fleshed out enough to make me understand why she’s a tsundere in the first place. And whenever she’s not blowing her top, she makes for some S-class moe material. Her relationship with Ryuugi was adorable from beginning to end. And she honestly just seems like a very cool person to hang out with. Ten out of ten, would cry again.
1. Nana Osaki
Anime: Nana I gave a lot of attention to loli characters on this list. Ao I wanted to end on a true rock and roll badass, for those of you who prefer their waifus fully grown and riddled with issues. Nana just made for such an interesting character, as she had this rock hard confidence and charisma, yet also this wholesome vulnerability too. She was extremely driven, and wanted to reach the top on the music charts. But also stayed humble and cared deeply for her bandmates and her fans. She might be flat chested, but she has more balls than anyone I know.
